This Could Be Fun

Joe Biden is set to announce (or has already announced) his new COVID strategy today. One of the key points will be mandating vaccination for all Federal workers and contractors. So, naturally, my wife the Fed is telling me how bad the push back is shaping up to be from Biden’s own employees.

Now, we both decided to get vaccinated when I lost my job- it’s easier to look for a job without having to deal with that stupid question- so it doesn’t particularly bother her. But damn, the anger in the rest of the ranks is palpable if not openly revolutionary.

Just for reference the current vaccination rate for the Deep State is surprisingly low. And Feds have wwaaayyy more employment clout than say, even teacher’s unions.

First off, if you make it past one year in the Federal government (I was 4 hours shy when I got shafted), you are virtually not fireable for any reason. Some of the tales are legendary. One guy in the EPA under Gina McCarthy surfed porn openly 40 hours a week for 5 or 6 years before anybody dared to try to discipline him. Another guy made up a story that he’d been reassigned to some top secret job and simply stopped going to work. Ever. Took 3 or 4 years for anyone to notice and formally fire his ass. And once you’ve hit 3 years, you can quit at any time for any reason and then come back and be restored to what you were before without any loss of benefits or anything. My wife did that when we were forced into bankruptcy.

Joe has picked a fight that he can’t win. This, when combined with previous mandates to vaccinate the entire military, could destroy whatever’s left that propping Biden up.

It just feels like the whole thing is falling apart.

By which I mean, a year and a half in to the Covid era, nothing is working. Masks/social distancing/lockdowns/vaccines….at best we’re seeing very small and very temporary movement from those measures.

Some of the most vaccinated countries in the world are seeing the biggest spikes right now.

I just realized I’m a victim of the conditioning. Notice what’s not on my list: Treatment. We never talk about treatment, other than to mercilessly mock anyone who suggests that there might be a treatment.

Weird.

Back when this all started, I asked the question, more or less, “Who says ‘fighting’ Covid will prove to be a good idea? Who says we’re not just better off taking the hit and letting it run it’s course?”

I see now that the problem with the way I asked the question was that I begged the most important question of all: “Who says we have the power to make a meaningful difference in how this plays out in the first place?”

I’m growingly increasingly to the opinion that we have no such power.

“Virus gonna virus”, as they say.

Back in the early days, I think the general game was to try to buy time until a vaccine became available. I can sort of see the sense in that, but it also presumed that a vaccine would in fact become available. Without the promise of a vaccine, there was no point to any of it. All you’re doing is putting off the inevitable.

Why would we assume a vaccine would be possible? I’ve come to learn that corona viruses have been common in animals for years, as have vaccines for them, but those vaccines are pretty lame and generally not considered very effective.

But we triumphed! We produced a vaccine!

Except we didn’t. And (see my other thread), the CDC tacitly admitted as much. The drugs we call “covid vaccines” are nothing of the sort. At most, they are a treatment protocol that, if taken in advance, will help reduce mortality. But they do not prevent infection. They do not prevent transmission. They do not act in any way according to the commonly understood definition of “vaccine”.

*****

This stuff with Sleepy Joe and Federal workers is unsurprising. The biggest problem Joe has is that he has no power. He can order people around, to one degree or another, but he can’t order the virus. He has no power over it. This is textbook “I’ve got a hammer therefore that must be a nail” thinking.

*****

The GIN at the moment is something like “The vaccines are working and everything bad is happening because some stubborn types refuse the needle”.

It will be interesting to see how much longer that will hold. It’s completely counter-factual.

I’m getting the same sense of diminishing power of the panic mongers.

Did you see any of the stuff out of the weekend’s college football games. Capacity crowds, rowdy as ever, and completely unmasked. Michigan packed somewhere north of 109,000 people in their stadium. And when the Ohio State athletic director was asked what they intend to do about the crowds and COVID, he said essentially, “nothing”.

And through all of that loud chants of “F**k Joe Biden” were spontaneously ringing out.

That’s a great example of how shop-worn this has all gotten.

As if most people can’t see right through the blatant double standards.

Bunch of bikers get together (mostly outdoors) at Sturgis? OMG!!! SUPER SPREADER EVENT!!!

Bunch of George Floyd accolated pack a church to celebrate the life of a career drug addict and criminal? How honorable!

As it turns out, I was one of about 90k in Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Saturday. Took my oldest grandson to his first Husker game.

(BTW, it was pretty cool. You never know with these kids. He actually got into the game. I kept looking for signs that he’d had enough, but he stayed engaged to the very end.)

Try taking that away from me, Joe Biden.

Thought this was a pretty funny take on the new cheer.

https://amgreatness.com/2021/09/14/wtf/

And this on the thoroughly irritating state of my own son, a loudmouth millennial who’s only the grace of my beleaguered wife away from getting his ass kicked for being astoundingly unpleasant with my wife. I keep telling her that my father would have had me breathing through my asshole if I had given my Mom half the shit that punk has given her.

Have you seen the latest. Something about the Biden admin throttling back treatment supplies to Florida and Texas.

Nice.

Yeah, despite assurances from the maker that “don’t worry, we’ll make more”.

And then I ran across this. Really funny for me because I’ve been in government rulemaking.

The guy nails it.
