Another one under the belt:
I’ve now discovered that Youtube has bots that comb the platform looking for copyrighted stuff and I’m pretty proud to say that 4 of the 5 videos I’ve posted have now been identified with the rights holder. I guess at least I’m not sucking so much as to be unrecognizable.
The new approach to fake book stuff helps immensely since the charts are easier to crash through. “Artist” transcripts tend to be about as complicated as humanly possible with every slur notated by 17 tied 32nd notes in an two and a half inches of space (roughly 1.27 beats). Drives you a little batty. A fake book boils it down to the core and lets you misinterpret to your little heart’s desire.
And it turns out I’ve got some great fake books that have languished on my shelves for years. Next up will be some Spyro Gyra, Weather Report, Al Dimeola, Yellowjackets and other cool stuff.
Onward and ever upward!
