Jeff, the following would be a paying proposition for a fabricator:
I and my pool guy are working on two concepts, the second of which I’ll inquire about separately. The first one is for a molded, integrated piece of plastic that screws into a pool wall and to which a pool cleaner hose (Polaris or equivalent) attaches.
The piece already exists in the form you see in this photo.
The problem with the configuration above is that, as you see, the stem is made to stick straight out of the pool wall, and stays horizontal with the pool surface, and so the polaris hose tends to wrap itself around that stem. Not the end of the world, but annoying.
I need a piece of plastic that looks just like that, but which comes straight out of the wall and then bends down so that the spigot points downward towards the bottom of the pool. (Screwing it all the way in and ending up with the spigot always pointing down seems like a separate problem to me, but he says that’s not an issue. I’ll have to see it to believe it, but that’s for later … )
If you have any interest, you can write or call me privately with a proposal. I just need two for now: one for my pool and one for him to carry around and show to other customers. Will pay a deposit or flat fee in advance for the two pieces if this is workable and affordable.
After we make the two prototypes, he already has hundreds of rich customers who will buy one sight unseen, so stage 2 would be contracting with someone to make, say, 100 to sell to local customers, and then on to Amazon or Pools-R-Us. Maybe that’s you, maybe someone you can interface with for a consulting fee. I will have it patented, and if it catches on, I will need a shop to fabricate … who-knows-how-many.
I could send you photos of an actual jury-rigged prototype that he has already made by email. I would attach them here but the images function does not work for me.
Thanks for reading this, and let me know,
