Update on Jenny

The last week and a half has been, understandably, a bit sketchy with information coming from Detroit about my wife’s niece, Jenny, but tonight we deciphered some news. Looks like Jenny has Stage 4 cancer. Still not sure of the exact prognosis, but I’m guessing it ain’t good. After a few days in the U. of M. hospital, she’s now gone home to Penny’s and her husband Dan’s house. Some good news is that if anybody can bear that burden financially and materially, it’s those two.

Christmas will go on since there’s really no choice but to move forward bravely.

As always, thanks for letting me vent.

She’s so young to have to endure this!

To the extent it helps and isn’t trite, tell her your friends are wishing her well.

I will. Thank you.

That sucks, P. Let me know if there’s anything I can do.

Thank you, sir. But there’s really nothing anyone can do. This is as real as it gets and in the end, we’re just bit players all trying to struggle through.

So about 3 weeks ago Jenny bugged out of Michigan, along with sister Penny, to Florida for some warm weather and walks on the beach. Penny shared pictures on FB that showed Jenny and her legitimately enjoying the break. Turns out Penny went back to Michigan last weekend- without Jenny. She’s loving the walks on the beach and the non-Rona panic life (no masks and big smiles in the pictures) that she’s just staying there. Penny says the plan at the moment are that Jenny will only return to Michigan for treatment. And then go back. That also takes a huge load off sis.

God, that’s good news.
