On defunding, crime, cartels, and civil unrest

Y’all, the highly select and august crowd that you are, may recall that my opinions on both civil unrest, and the looming crime spikes inherent in the defund movement—including cartel activity—was met by some derision over on SH, including by some with ties to affected areas.

This is one of those times that I take little joy in being prescient by dint of simply looking around.

MNPLS shot spotter is picking up automatic weapons fire at this point, and i have it on very good authority that events are starting to produce spernt 7.62×39 casings in notable quantities on the ground with alarming regularity.

This was all easy to see coming; now it’s here. I wish the polite in MNLS the best with the new order.

Look at some of the real estate around the lake neighborhoods in the attached screenshot from shotspotter and police data (below)

These are some of the most expensive city neighborhoods in the whole midwest outside of Oak Park or Highland Park near Chicago.
Carjackings (and the occasional gunfight) are presenting around the Summit/ Cathedral Hill neighborhood in St Paul, which has the longest unbroken street of victorian Mansions in the US.

I’m sensing that a lot of chickens with this virus and lockdowns are coming home to roost. Just waiting to find out the San Jose guy was on the receiving end of some disciplinary action and had nothing left to lose. It’s going to get ugly.

But “Gun Control!”

It’s the unvarnished decadence in all this that disturbs me the most.

It’s easy to be radical when you’ve got an eight-figure portfolio. If worse comes to worse, you can just move to Texas and start about fucking up another state.

Karma’s a bitch, ain’t it?

One way trip down the karma highway…

From Fauxmaha

That is classic.

I have to hand it to financial impropriety/fraud guy right there: he turned his own carjacking into a leftist talking point quite adroitly.  Well played.

Kinda sad when 6 and 8 year old kids are hangin’ out jacking cars left unattended for a moment.

From Piecesofmalarkey

It is sad. That said, the lack of self-awareness involved in promulgating defunding of the police and then saying: “These kids, it’s 12:30 in the afternoon. Why aren’t they in school? Why aren’t we enforcing systems to ensure that if they are not in school, they’re in recreational centers?”

is striking.

On a different topic, here’s a compelling quip:

“Twenty years in the future, every major city will have a street named after George Floyd. And you won’t want to be on it.”

A luthier from Minnesota (not famous), of all people, shared that one privately. 😉

All I can say is I’m glad I live in a privileged area of north Texas. Not to say that things don’t go off the rails here sometimes.

But I can not imagine my local government suffering a makeshift group of malcontents with guns setting up their own little squalid collection of tents, calling it a cop free zone, and forbidding entrance by “non members” and police.

I think we all know that the only solution to this growing problem can only be achieved by temporary suspension of civil liberties and indifference to political correctness. Ross Perot had this plan and admitted “It won’t be pretty.” People thought he was Hitler of course, and he lost to “I feel your pain.”

As for the SH, I only left temporarily because Pete was banned temporarily. (For calling a spade a spade.) Now that they allow him back, I will be posting some music videos there now and then. There are really only about 3 people that make the place hard to bear; the others I’ve know since TTT and we get along fine. I attended one of the jams in Iowa. Evan has stayed here and we are still close.

The Atlanta story reminds me of this video:

They went from “Fuck the establishment!!” to “Call 911!!” in half a second.

We should remember that the hippies left their communes, I suspect because the wimmins grew up faster than the boys and told the boys they were going home to Mother unless the boys got some air conditioning and indoor plumbing installed in the teepees.

The yippies, I think, became junk bond traders and moved to the Hamptons.

My point is, this too shall pass.

Probably. But like a big kidney stone, it’ll probably be painful.
