Before I post a link, I’ll throw this one out here:
During a quick concentration break, I asked my beginning classes “what is the biggest problem facing society today?” I try to remember to ask this question at some point each semester, because it gives me a 30-40 person sample of the collegiate zeitgeist.
I was gobsmacked to find that a majority—and by majority, I mean 70-75 percent—of the students answered:
”media, both legacy and social.”
Whoa. Didn’t see that one coming. I got a couple of obligatory “global warmings” and a few lofty “lack of empathy” or “lack of love/care in the world” but I was astounded to hear student after student in the circles respond with “yeah, I’m going to go with media, too…”
So, there’s that.
And here’s this reasonably well-penned article:
Don’t tell Hammond or Hanners any of this.
