*leader of the free world.

Full term? At least until Jan 21, 2023, to allow a full two terms for a successor? 25th A solution? God forbid, an FDR situation?  Honest to God, nothing would surprise me, but I nonetheless stand ready to be amazed on a moment’s notice.

I think the nation is in a lot of denial right now.

Like most Trump supporters, I had to work yesterday so I missed most of the festivities. But my wife the Fed had the day off so I caught a couple things.

The press conference signing the 17 or so Executive Orders was priceless. An addled, senile old man mumbling unintelligently through a mask reading from Cliff Notes as he described what he was signing. Got through 3 of the pile on the desk and somebody off camera declared the event over and staffers swept across in front of the cameras and gave everyone the bum rush while Joe smiled at the camera with that glazed deer-in-the-headlights look that said, where the hell am I?

And then I saw what some of the EO’s were about.

A national mask mandate. However, only for Federal property. I think the only Federal property around here is the courthouse in Winchester. And the National parks that I haven’t visited in at least a decade.

Yeah, that’ll kick COVID’s ass.

And cancelling the Keystone XL pipeline. A move that immediately pissed off CANADA for Christ’s sake. 4 hours into your administration and you’ve managed to piss off Canada. That’s got to be a record on many levels. Can’t wait until Iran starts shooting at anything that moves and N. Korea lands a missile test in Alaskan fishing waters.

And being a former Fed with some appreciation of the myriad of rules and Trump’s rather deft handling of Obama’s laxity I just had to wonder how the hell Joe thinks he can EO his way out of executed contract obligations without the full fury of newly emboldened oil industry lawyers and others if he seriously thinks he’s empowered to stop that and the wall  with a pen and a phone.

And the Senate managed to confirm exactly one of Biden’s appointments between impeaching Trump for the second time, passing Biden’s stimulus shit, and the government on the verge of the next round of trying to fiscally kick the can down the road without shutting down.

So my money is on the Biden/Harris honeymoon being completely over in about 2-3 weeks and the nightmare gladly ending in 4 years.

And it’s a great time to be a Trump supporter.

It is my earnest effort to try to perpetually be looking ten or twenty years down the road.

I try to ignore the daily comings and goings, as they are generally not all that important. EG, the sturm and drang over Trump’s wave of pardons…all earnestly expressed without, apparently, the slightest bit of awareness that being scandalized over pardons has become part of the regular theatrics of presidential transitions.

Speaking of lack of self-awareness:

Good to know the CIA is cracking down on authoritarians and libertarians.

Back to the ten/twenty year view: I first discussed something like five years ago, when Trump first started getting some momentum, that his political success exposed a massive blind spot in our culture. I think that is still true.

The established political class spent his entire term denying what was manifestly obvious. That there are tens of millions of Americans who don’t feel well-served by the government. The reaction went beyond denial. It went all the way to, roughly, “well, fuck those people anyway. They are just racists and Nazis, so they deserve nothing”.

That culminated in Trump’s insanely foolish (IMHO) post election conduct*, which gave the political establishment the license to massively exaggerate the actual threat on 1/6, which in turn gave them license to, well, pretty much go full Nazi themselves.

[My take on 1/6 is that you had a large crowd of riled up people, and a handful of them got out of hand. There was no leadership. No coordination. No chain of command. Just a bunch of people getting caught up in the moment. It could have been easily rebuffed if anyone had really wanted to. The idea that that was ever a serious threat is just nonsense.]

Back to the point I’m trying to make: If the goal is long term stability, then the failure to admit that Trump was on to something is the exactly wrong tack. The manifest desire by government and big tech actors to silence and censor opposing views is exactly the wrong tack. All of that adds to instability. It adds to the perception of tens of millions of Americans that they are living in “occupied territory”.

* He may be thinking further down the road than I give him credit, but I think he should have said something like “Congratulations. You stole it fair and square. Well done. And watch out for next time. Hope you like living under your own rules, because two can play that game.”

Again, I agree with your comments, El J. The fact that Trump is gone does *nothing* to change the underlying issues that caused his presidency in the first place.  I like how they lump the libertarians in with bigots and fascists—that’s some good psyop, right there.

In other news, a fun exercise for today’s class is to google for the text of some of Biden’s EOs from day 1. I was particularly interested in the text of his reversal of “Trump’s muslim ban.”

I found that Google won’t help you. Google will only provide links to a never-ending cavalcade of news stories talking about the EO with the same language. So I did it the hard way, by going to WH.gov, and scrolling through their postings until I found it. At that point, a quick read showed that the reversal part simply refers to the 2017 Trump EO by number—which *can* be brought up via google, since there is a wiki page on it, and wikipedia is still part of the cool kid collective.

At last, I see what horrific racism it is that Biden reversed. Well, actually, what he reversed was entry restrictions from a list of failed states that was originally compiled under the Obama admin; it was never “Trump’s list” of countries, it was Obama’s. So Biden should know damn well why the countries are on it. But back to the racist math on this, here’s the exec summary:

Trump’s restrictions on US entry for passport holders from seven Muslim-majority [sic] countries:

all nationals of North Korea and Syria; by nationals of Iran except on student or exchange visitor visas; by nationals of Libya and Yemen on immigrant, tourist or business visas; by nationals of Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nigeria and Somalia on immigrant visas; by nationals of Sudan and Tanzania on diversity visas; and by some government officials of Venezuela on tourist or business visas. Exceptions to the ban existed in limited circumstances.

Pretty easy to see what’s going on there. Venezuelan gov’t (but nobody else from VZ)? ALL PRNK and Syria? Iran, but students exempted? Libya and Yemen general visas, but not diplomatic? Etc. etc.

The reason for Trump’s “bans” are the same reason for the countries being on the Obama Admin’s list in the first place: failure or wholesale corruption of parts or all of the state apparatus that issues the visas. It’s impossible to vet people from failed states properly. Well, not impossible, but it does require 1-to-1 on ground personnel doing the vetting, as in, one of ours, fluent in language and customs, on the ground, private investigator style, at 1k-1,800 per day to hunt down who an individual is. Kids from Yemen or Somalia may not even have birth records, let alone credit scores, home mailing addresses, employment histories, and tik-tok accounts. Biden knows—or at least, knew—this.

It’s not “racist” against muslims, unless one is willing to stretch the definition to include citizens of the PRNK, or members of the current Venezuelan controlling state; rather, it’s a security measure to make sure we don’t have another Boston bombing, or a Mumbai mall here. Hell, the none of the biggest majority muslim countries are on the list. #clue

Biden knows this. He’s trading duty for optics, with the complete backing of both legacy media and big tech.

JMO, but I’ve got some evidence weighing on my opinion.

And the dandies still think I’m just a stupid, backwoods, redneck, racist, homophobic, goon clinging to his God and his guns.

No, I spent years reading shit like that and knowing how it works.

It isn’t just your opinion.

Heart attack or aneurysm in 2 years, followed by resignation. Kamala giggles her way into the Presidency. Hillary smiles broadly while she grinds her teeth.

Honestly, I don’t know why anyone would want the job.

2 full days in. One EO has put 10,000 union members out of work. Another has pissed off feminists for effectively eliminating women’s sports. Texas has sued to stop the abandonment of immigration law passed by Congress. Trump impeachment in the Senate is scheduled for February. Chief Justice Roberts probably won’t show up because it’s like, you know, unconstitutional. Biden’s already violated his own mask mandate on Federal property on camera. Biden’s famous $15 minimum wage has been implemented- for Federal workers only. 25,000 National Guard troops are now sleeping outside in a parking garage with 2 porta johns and Texas and Florida are ordering theirs home on the next available flights. BLM and Antifa riots have resumed in Portland and Seattle. By all accounts the rioters don’t even know why they’re rioting at this point.

Yeah. This is working out real well.

On the topic of Ntn’l guard, and the 25K debacle, #1, I’m told the issue is leadership being told, and in turn telling their troops, NOT to bring cots, sleep systems, etc. because all of that was to be “provided.” Which is why all the troops in the pictures just have their battle rattle and an assault pack for the most part. It’s a disgrace; search for ‘Czech embassy provides meals to guard troops in DC.’ That actually happened. #2, there’s this:

https://www.dailywire.com/news/hundreds-of-national-guardsmen-test-positive-for-covid-quarantine-after-capitol-duty

Didn’t Biden just campaign largely on Trump’s failures to contain COVID? Now Biden has his own preventable superspreader event over optics, and we’re not even a week into this Admin.

As to BLMtifa&Co, the graffiti in both green cities clearly indicates that they’re rioting against Biden, probably because he’s now the fool on duty. Frankenstein’s monster, and all that. Just wait for the popcorn ‘n bourbon-worthy spectacle that comes when the blackbloc pokes Harris with a stick—which they absolutely will, sooner or later. Then the mask comes off, the true colors come out, and the sickle gets put aside while the hammer gets culturally appropriated to employ against the bloc.  It will be good times, mark my words.

Heard today that Biden’s promised to codify Federal abortion laws. Who says Roe v. Wade is settled law?
