PS: Back in the day, we would set up our own actual servers, in server rooms inside our own buildings.
Eventually, that largely went away. Now a handful of companies (the previously mentioned AWS being the biggie) control it all.
Its curious how that all came about. In the early days, we thought of distributed computing creating more robust (anti-fragile, in Taleb’s terms) systems. Today, things are infinitely more fragile than they were 30 years ago.
