I spent the summer before my senior year in college working in an engineering office at the Corps of Engineers here in Omaha.
One of the guys had a poster hanging from his cubicle that said:
“Engineering is the art of molding materials we do not fully understand, into shapes we can not precisely define, in order to withstand forces we can not fully assess, in such a manner that the public at large has no reason to suspect the extent of our ignorance.”
(The big project they were working on at the time was a series of support facilities for B1 bombers).
